Will The Real Friendly Bob Adams, Please Stand Up

Hi, my name is Bob Adams and I wanted to introduce myself to you. This is my maiden voyage into blogging and hope that you enjoy reading my story. I recently joined the Haley Toyota Certified Center's sales staff. I have the pleasure of working with a great bunch of guys who have been in the car business for a very long time. They all have stories of how things have changed in car sales, and how different things were "back in the day" As you can probably surmise, I am much younger than most of my coworkers. But that's a good thing! I appreciate their years of experience and their willingness to help me break into the car business. I have always had a love for cars and enjoy meeting people, so thought that this may be a good career path for me.

As The Story Goes
My General manager, Bill Simmons, has been doing this for a very long time. He likes to remind me that he sold his first car before I was born. We laugh at that but I respect his willingness to take a young guy such as myself, and teach me the business that has been so much a part of his life. Bill and I were talking in his office last week and he was encouraging me to start writing articles and blogging. We kicked around some ideas and possible names for the blog. Sort of jokingly, he told me about an advertising campaign used by some finance companies in the 1960's. Apparently "Friendly Bob Adams" was a fictional character used by the finance and loan companies. They invited customers to call into the office and speak to "Friendly Bob Adams" to get information and to apply for loans. The trick to the campaign was that there was no one at the office named Friendly Bob Adams. But that was the tip for the sales guys when the operator paged that there was a phone call for Bob Adams, all of the sales guys rushed to the phone because they knew a good prospect was calling from one of the ads! I researched that story on Google, and sure enough, this was a true story. So there you have it. I named my blog for a mythical character from an ad campaign that existed years before I was born. I figure if it could help make loans for finance companies, maybe it just might help people remember me when they are shopping for cars.

The Rest Of The Story
I'll end my first post by sharing a little bit more about me. I am a native of Richmond and currently live in Chesterfield. I have a passion for computers and photography as well as cars. I actually assist the dealership and take many of the pictures of our cars that you see on our Haley Certified website. The dealership is great about working with me to balance my work schedule around my classes. So, there you have it. If you see a vehicle on our website, and call our dealership and ask to speak to a guy named Friendly Bob Adams, you will actually be speaking to, a real Bob Adams!

I hope you enjoyed reading my story. Oh, and before I forget, you can reach the real Friendly Bob Adams at 1-800-606-8020, our dealerships toll free number. Or stop in and say hello at 8301 Midlothian Turnpike. We are located just a little east of the Powhite Parkway near Buford Road. If you would like to share any comments about my story, or let me know about other articles that you would want me to post, shoot me an email at badams.@haleyauto.com
